Why are people who are not invested in bitcoin so hostile towards it?

Imagine you’re a farmer. You worked hard all your life, scrounge and save and then finally get a nice little cozy home. You know the fields, you know the irrigation systems, you know the weather like it’s your partner in bed. Seasons you can predict down to the day, and you’re proud of the tan you got naturally.

Then some guy comes in and tells you how he made in last year $60,000 returns on buying this coin thing, and when you ask what’s it about, he can’t explain, but insists his financial windfall is legit. You go online and search for information about this, but nobody has the capability to explain it in layman terms, and all you learn is something about distributed (you know your distributors, and none of them are good people!), something about censorship, freedom, and all that stupid chain of blocks thing. Sounds like a ponzi scheme.

Of course you’re going to be hostile towards it. What do they have in common?

Fear and ignorance goes hand in hand.
